Let’s Celebrate Women Coffee Farmers

March is dedicated to celebrating women. We begin with International Women’s Day on 8 March and soon after honour mothers on Mother’s Day.

On this occasion, we invite you to brew a cup of coffee in celebration of the women behind every sip to enjoy while you’re reading this blog.

The Cafe Femenino Project

Café Femenino was created to give women coffee farmers greater visibility, recognition and economic power within the coffee supply chain.

In many coffee-producing regions, women carry out much of the work involved in growing, harvesting and processing coffee, yet historically they have had limited ownership, limited access to credit and little control over income. Café Femenino was established to change that.

The mission is simple but powerful: to create direct market access for women farmers and ensure they are paid directly for their coffee. Through this model, women gain financial independence, leadership opportunities and a stronger voice within their communities.

Beyond trade, the Café Femenino Foundation provides funding for social and community projects chosen by the women themselves. These initiatives often focus on education, healthcare, infrastructure and long-term sustainability in coffee-growing regions.

At its core, Café Femenino is about recognising the role of women in coffee production and ensuring their contribution is valued, visible and fairly rewarded.

Women Grown Single Origin Coffees And Blends

If you want to join us in celebrating the intricate work of the women farmers behind the Cafe Femenino Project, we invite you to try the following coffees:

Peru Cafe Femenino: the coffee that began the project back in 2004. Peru Café Femenino was the first coffee sold under this model, and from there the programme expanded to other coffee-producing countries.

It features bright lemon and smooth maple syrup  tasting notes.

Indonesia Queen Gayo Grade 1: Indonesia Queen Gayo Grade 1 is grown in the highlands of Aceh, Sumatra, a region known for producing distinctive, full-bodied coffees with depth and complexity.

Cultivated at high altitude and carefully processed, this coffee delivers a rich, chocolate-forward profile with notes of chocolate covered strawberries and caramel.

The body is smooth and weighty, with low acidity and a long, satisfying finish.

Aurora Blend: Aurora Blend is a coffee as bright and inspiring as the women in our lives.

Sweet, delicate notes from Peru Café Femenino meet the bold, chocolate-rich depth of Indonesia Queen Gayo, creating a balanced blend with real character in every cup.

Luna Blend: A seasonal evolution of Aurora.

This blend combines Indonesia Queen Gayo and Peru Café Femenino, now elevated with Ethiopian Yirgacheffe to introduce delicate floral aromatics and vibrant fruit notes in the cup.
